Professor Zhou Meiyu is a Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at the School of Art Design and Media, East China University of Science and Technology (ECUST) . He serves as the Director of the Industrial Design Teaching and Research Office . Professor Zhou's research spans product design theory and methodology, Kansei engineering, and cultural and creative product design. His work emphasizes the development of product system design theories and methods grounded in consumer emotional needs within a globalized context. His research extends to human-machine interaction, consumer morphological cognition, neuroaesthetics, sustainable design, and Kansei-based design . Adopting a full life-cycle perspective—from concept generation to recycling and reuse—Professor Zhou integrates material and cultural Kansei needs through three interrelated dimensions: the construction of Kansei image space, the composition of product design elements, and the advancement of Kansei design theories and methods . He has led or participated in numerous projects funded by the Shanghai Art Fund, the Shanghai Cultural and Creative Industries Fund, and the National Social Science Fund of China, as well as over forty enterprise-academic collaborative projects . He has guided more than 60 student projects that have won awards in international and domestic competitions such as the Red Dot and IDEA Awards . Professor Zhou has published one academic monograph, two textbooks, contributed to three additional volumes, and authored more than 130 academic papers, including over 90 indexed in SSCI, SCI, and EI journals .
